JOHANNES REITER
M.D. candidate
As the central control organ of our organism, the brain must flexibly integrate vast amounts of environmental stimuli into an evolutionary and by personal experiences shaped "self" and have to coordinate appropriate (re-)actions. I find the idea of cells that communicate with each other can handle these tasks overwhelming. I am convinced that medical progress is based on the understanding of physiological and pathological mechanisms, which enables causal thinking and I believe that modern MRI image analysis can lead to new insights. In my work with image data of Rasmussen’s encephalitis patients I would like to use these possibilities.
